Voracious Mouth

This is the second in the "bullet series" of sculptures which started with the "Impatient Hand." The teeth are made from military surplus 30mm anti-tank practice rounds. The kinetic action of this sculpture is actually three superimposed motions: the inner, smaller teeth oscillate in a "massaging fingers" motion; the entire mouth opens and closes cyclically; and finally the entire mouth violently slams closed once every eight cycles. The machine features a complete onboard compressed air system, is operated simply and elegantly by a pair of switches, and is powered by a single wall-outlet style electrical cord.
