On October 6th, 2001, RoboChrist Industries traveled to Phoenix, Arizona to perform "The Reality Show You Never Asked For." Like most Americans, I was angered by the events of September 11th, 2001, less than a month earlier. As the main prop for that show, we constructed a merry-go-round consisting of three characters, a priest, a rabbi, and a muslim cleric, each with the mechanical ability to punch the other two, locked in a never-ending boxing match. This, to me, was a potent metaphor for the ultimate ridiculousness of religion itself and the futility of ever getting disparate faiths to see eye to eye. There was also a tableaux of plywood caricatures of George Bush Sr., Jerry Falwell, Saddam Hussein, and Osama Bin Laden, all expertly painted by a brilliant local artist. Needless to say, the Subjugator, Manipulatrix, and Drunken Master passed swift and merciless judgement over all.
