On June 2nd, 2001, I collaborated with flesh-hook suspension performance artists Alan Faulkner and Sean McManus to perform what was probably the first suspension from a remote-controlled robot ever. We did extensive testing with weights before the actual show, and it's a good thing we did. Several maneuvers we intended to perform were deemed way too dangerous, and we had several equipment failures. In the end, the repairs we executed based on the test results proved to be just right, and the performance went without a problem. Unless, that is, you consider giant stainless steel hooks through these guys' skin a problem...
