This machine is still under construction, but when done it will be truly unique. This robot is conceptually based on a specific pair of conjoined twins, Abigail and Brittany Hensel (see the first picture). The idea is that it will require two operators, and the experience of operating this machine will force these two people into experiencing something like what it must feel like to be conjoined twins. The machine will be an eight legged walker whose body is long and bilaterally symmetrical, and hinged in the middle. It will have two heads, one at either end. The two operators will have joint, cumulative control of the walking chassis, and each will have discrete control over his or her head. Therefor in order to coherently go anywhere, they will have to communicate and cooperate. Additionally, the body will be able to fold in on itself and the heads will be able to reach each other in order to fight, or cooperatively manipulate objects. At one point in the far future, I would like Abigail and Brittany to operate this robot. The invitation is open, ladies!
